&lt;p&gt;It covers off most of the points you have mentioned about the Sql Adapter and works with many different databases. I originally was using it with Oracle databases but have also used it against a Sql Server 2000 database for a batch operation (ie needed to do an update, insert, call a stored procedure within a single db transaction). Only problem is the adapter is not free, but the price is reasonable.&lt;/p&gt;
